LAUDE Classic and historic racing cars will once again entertain the Killarney Raceway racegoers with a field of some 30-odd classic and historic cars. This is undoubtedly one of the biggest categories of racing currently in the Western that is delivering good, solid fields and entertaining the local stalwarts.
Class A will have a change for some while to come with Franco Donadio (Donadio Plant Hire) returning with his old Escort MK1 after him suffering damages to his V8 Can-Am. He will be duelling against Michael Hitchcock (Cross Cape Forklift Services) V8 Mustang and Glen Uytenbogaardt (Cross Cape Forklift Services) V8 Perana Granada.
Class B has no less than 9 entrants in with a fighting chance. Keep an eye on both Trevor Momberg (Supragas/All Scale) V6 Capri and Ferdi Mouton (Cross Cape Forklift Services) in his V8 Ford Mustang. Others in class B with a shout are Brian Evans (Cape Eye Laser) Escort MK1, Jared Thomson (CJ Supplies) Cortina 3.0S, Dave Alhadeff (BMW 325 iS) and Bruce Aven Taplin (Toyota Corolla).
Class C is not short of numbers either, sporting a healthy 6 entries. This one is anyone’s race, but keep a watchful eye out for Deon Valentine (Mini), Deon Conradie (Flat Four Racing), Toyota Conquest, the Hutchings father-son duo (HSC Racing) in their VW Scirroco and Golf MK2, and Rob Rowe (Veldt Reared) BMW 325 iS giving hard chase.
Class D could go any way but no doubt that Herman de Kock (Mk1 Escort GT) will be giving his all against the likes of Dave Rowley (Flat Four Racing) VW Beetle and Theo Claasen (Yesterdays Heros) Nissan Skyline GTX.
Class X has a few entries as well. This is a class for newcomers or new driver /car combinations, as well as any invitees to the category. Among them will be Peter Hitchcock (Cross Cape Forklift Services) Ford Mustang, Stephen Manual in a Nissan Skyline 2.8, PW Louw (PW Louw Consult) in a Mazda RX7, Bradley Rowe (Veldt Reared) BMW 2002 ti and Ian Richards Golf Gti Mk2.
Overall, there will be a full field of brilliantly prepared classic and historic racing cars that will take to the grid after lunch on Saturday, 25 May 2024 to dish up some great racing.
Don’t miss this one.
